From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
